Miri Badger x Kat Walsh 'Threadbare'
130cm x 60cm (per panel)
Textiles, ink, oil paint, pen, acrylic paint, canvas and marker.
From the Artists:
This work speaks to the ways in which sewing, mending, and craft practices play a role in everyday expressions of creativity - despite often being excluded from ‘fine art’ discourse. It calls for audiences to consider mending and manufacturing of textiles as valuable practices.
As the product of the collaboration between fashion designer Kat Walsh and painter Miri Badger, it carries the traces of their ongoing dialogue. The construction of the work consisted of passing sections of the artwork back and forth; deconstructing painted work using methods of collaging and quilting, as well as experimenting differing textiles surfaces to be painted on.
