Csongvay Blackwood is the combined creative expression of Csilla Csongvay and Matt Blackwood, and The Third Quarter hosted their first solo exhibition alongside Tim Wilson 'Relative Meaning' from July 19 - August 1, 2019.
Csongvay Blackwood clay artworks balance form with function to create objects that reference the Brutalist architecture of Csilla’s childhood in Romania and Matt’s love of Mid-Century Modern.
‘3 Fold’ continued Csongvay Blackwood’s exploration of minimalism and geometry by creating a series of stoneware ceramic sculptures that balance points of contrast. This contrast explores the balance of solid and void, the glazed with the unglazed, weight versus lightness, and the intersection of the straight becoming a curve. The resulting sculptures belong in the "future ancient".
